Things of beauty...and a long, warm weekend...

Here again...another Friday list of prettiness; whatever might have taken my fancy this week. Today heralds the start of the Easter weekend, which to me means family and quieter times, seeing friends, resting up. Of course I couldn't not mention the weather which, as I look out today, is shaping up to be a beautiful sunny day. Maybe a late beach visit this afternoon? Cook fish on the barbecue?

I've been trying to just take some time of late, to work through chores more mindfully, to concentrate on the task in hand rather than just muddle through. I need to get more centred on what I am doing. I need to keep my nostalgia in check, as much as I love it, looking back all the time is counter-productive. Time to look forward and to plan...

I completely fall for these pretty papers...I buy far too much writing paper and then don't correspond with people the old fashioned way...

Things of beauty...

Hello!! Seriously, TGI Friday! This week sees the end of the work project that I have been devoting myself to for the last six months. Professionally it has been the most challenging project that I have ever been involved in and for me personally, despite the fact I have done my job for years, I have learned so much! I work for a household-name corporate multi-national, so there is always a great deal of process, formality, structure in the work I do. But in this project there has been the need to be much, much more innovative, more resilient; I have never 'thought on my feet' to this extent!

So, this just shows that life can always make you learn, even when you think you have seen it all!

This weekend, we have my Danish relatives over; we are introducing them to the Friday Night Curry tonight. Saturday a beach hut barbeque party for Boo and her friends. Sunday, more family fun. Busy, busy! Must schedule in some 'down' time soon!

Thanks for all of your lovely comments, as ever, you lift me up.

This week's things of beauty...

I love this image from 'The Graduate'...the contrasting looks on their faces! One of the best ever film endings...

This Swedish room is so beautifully calming...especially the symmetry of the flowers and lamps...

Edwardian lace detail...there's something so gentle about this image...an extract only of a wider piece.

Summer-time bowl of cherries...my husband can tie a cherry stalk in a knot, no hands! Think about it...

My favourite Georg Jensen Fusion ring stacks...so gorgeous...

Counting down to some serious Portugal beach time...Elle Macpherson doing what she does best; bikini and cowboy hat.

I am still studiously avoiding the shops...budget will not allow...but I do love this Isabel Marant dress...

Simplicity in dressing is what summer is all about...from Sarah Klassen's wonderful blog Haute Design

Oops, back to dresses...my mind is never too far away. Of all things (even shoes), dresses are my best thing! I will always stray towards dresses instead of separates. My wardrobe is full of them...

'Rouge Coco' by Chanel...simply gotta get this lipstick.

The chair obsession persists - the Eames Rocker again...but this one candy pink.

'Nude - Caryatid' painted by Modigliani in 1913.

I think this is a fabulous rustic sink, edged with flowers, love the distressed brick work on the wall.

Did I mention dresses? I could not ignore my other passion...shoes...

Jennifer Aniston looking positively seductive. No matter what, she still has this capacity to catch my eye.
