Things of beauty...

This week has been a roller coaster...some highs and some lows. I have been on my own most of the time as my husband has been away; the Boos are in their penultimate week at school and it's all becoming a bit too much! They are tired. I am tired. The epic school holiday is about to start; bittersweet as ever. Released from the school routine, but instead a whole lot of time to fill with fun exciting things!

May your weekends be wonderful. We have NOTHING planned which is just what we need! A weekend of no demands. So in pensive mood, still with the most persistent toothache in the world, here are some alluring things of beauty....

My husband and I went up the Empire State Building for our very first wedding anniversary. I was pregnant with Boo at the time...always makes me smile to see it...

Toast dresses made all the difference this week when the blues hit me...thank you for all of your uplifting comments.

In Denmark there is a lot of amber jewellery like this...I always wanted to find the perfectly formed piece. How lovely to think of tree resin fossilised...

The summer holiday build-up includes choosing books to read. This bizarrely, is once a year activity for me. Despite the fact that I did a degree in English Literature and read more books than you can shake a stick at, I now hardly read at all. My annual summer readathon is my one chance, where I average a book a day...

I have a severe case of envy over this Emma Gordon clutch bag that I got for my sister in law as a birthday present...Natasha please may I borrow?!

Perfect simplicity...

My wallpaper fixation lives on...

So stunning...words fail me!

Summer-time orange and banana Popsicles...

Just about the coolest wedding I have ever seen...I think this bride has the strongest of faces; I just love her look.

Eva Mendes, a lovely, natural smile...

An ochre dress...

Summer lemonade in candy stripes?

Trying to increase my vitamin C - having worked so hard lately, I need to stay healthy!

I love this hat! I must make an effort to wear more hats...

'Two Tahitian Women' painted by Paul Gauguin in 1899.

I couldn't resist...Olivia P in all her glory...GREAT dress.
